The Nigerian Air Force has announced that its fighter aircraft destroyed terrorist hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State, as part of ongoing military operations against insurgent groups in the North-East.

According to a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strike was carried out on Friday, April 24, 2026, at about 6:50 p.m. over Ali Sheriffti, described as a known terrorist enclave in the Southern Tumbuns.
Ejodame said the operation followed credible intelligence on insurgent activities in the area. Nigerian Air Force assets reportedly conducted a surveillance sweep and sighted several insurgents moving through hidden tracks before trailing them to structures concealed under thick vegetation.
After confirming the targets, the air assets launched a precision strike on the structures using onboard munitions. The NAF said the attack destroyed terrorist structures and further weakened the ability of the insurgents to move freely or operate from the area.
The air operation was carried out under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, the ongoing military campaign against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other terrorist groups operating in the North-East. Channels Television also reported that the mission formed part of sustained pressure on terrorist elements in the region.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, was quoted as saying that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with precision and force. He added that air operations would continue with increased intensity to protect the country and its citizens.
The latest strike comes as security forces continue efforts to deny terrorists safe havens in Borno, especially around difficult terrain where insurgent fighters often attempt to regroup, hide weapons, or plan attacks.
While the NAF confirmed the destruction of hideouts and terrorist structures, it did not immediately give a casualty figure. Further updates are expected if the military releases more details from the operation.
